Maps and Layers
WeGlide provides a variety of custom maps and layers. For your own safety, do not trust these informations blindly.
WeGlide offers four base maps. Additional vector information like water, streets, place names and land development is provided by OpenStreetMap contributors.
WeGlides elevation maps are designed from the ground up using elevation data from NASA and other sources. Our pipeline is open source: WeGlide hypsometric map repository.
Satellite images are based on the Landsat missions and enhanced by third parties where we purchased our maps from.
The Landcover map is made of a basic OpenStreetMap with color coded landovering and additional shadowing for elevations.
Basic map from OpenStreetMap data providing a clean canvas for additional layers like weather or other data.
Airports and Airspaces
Airports and Airspaces as well as their information is derived form OpenAIP. For missing or incorrect data, please help OpenAIP directly to improve their dataset. We will update our layers timely.
Livetracking uses data from the wonderful Open Glider Network which is made available under the ODC Attribution License. OGN does a good job at explaining how everything works. WeGlide adds live scoring, pilot and task linking as well as flight analysis on top.
Landing fields is a community driven project organized by streckenflug.at which aims to list landing possibilities in the alps where meadows to land on are sparse. Permission for WeGlide to display these layers is explicitly granted.
Despite careful control of the content, we assume no liability or promise for the original, current or future accuracy, completeness and functionality or usability of the data. The use of the data is at the risk and expense of the respective user.
We are not obligated to update or maintain the data. A personal on-site inspection by the pilot is indispensable, the condition of the landing possibilities can change at any time!
The content of the file or its use does not replace the legally required flight preparation, in particular the observance of the current edition of the AIP, as well as AIP Supplements, NOTAMs and AICs.
