Segment Ranking
Let's have a look at the ranking on the Engadin Rally segment. Just like in the segment overiew, you can filter for different date ranges (year, month, days) and for clubs, airfields or individual users. Different filters can also be combined.
Layout
In the segment ranking, you will find a ranking of all the flights that have passed a segment. In the top section, the distance of the segment (106.67km), the number of flights and the local legend (Lisa Scheller) are displayed. The local legend is the person who has flown the segment the most often. We can see that no one has flown the Engadin Rally more often than Lisa, and that Benjamin is the fastest of all time.
If we want to know how often Lisa has flown the segment, we can just filter for her name and find the number behind the glider symbol. If we hover above a single flight, it is displayed on the map.
Speed calculation
The speed that is displayed is already corrected for your altitude difference. This correction also depends on the speed you achieve on the segment. WeGlide computes a MacCready and calculates how long it would have taken you (or how much time you would have saved) to climb the altitude difference between start and finish.
Direction filter
The arrow before the speed shows in which direction the segment has been flown. Per default, every segment can be flown in both directions. You can filter for a direction to only see flights that have passed the segment in this direction. Here, we filter for the SW direction.
The number of flights that is displayed and the local legend also adjust dynamically to the date range, the filters and the direciton that you choose. You can see that Kurt Toepfer is now the local legend, he has flown the segment the most times in this direction. 264 flights have passed the segment in this direction all together.
Cups and medals
If your flight is one of the fastest three of all times on a segment, you will be awarded a cup in different colors. If you have scored a personal top three for yourself, you will receive a medal. If we go to Dirk's flight from the 9th June of 2014, we see that he has received a silver cup (second fastest of all time) and a gold medal (personal best of all time) for his performance on the Engadin Rally. The interval where he flew the segment is highlighted in the barogram. We also see his start and end altitude and the wind conditions while he was flying the segment.
Even if you don't achieve a top three performance, the grey numbers behind the other segment name shows the overall placements on the segments. On this flight, Benjamin has placed 5th and 88th overall with his performances on the segment. His first run was his second best of all time, which is why he received a silver medal.
Date filter
If we switch the date filter to the 2021 season, we see that in this period, the Engadin Rally has been flown 186 times. We also see that for 2021, Mathias is now the local legend (most scores on the segment) and also the fastest pilot, scoring 117 points on this segment. We could also select individual days or months.
Your segment performances
By filtering for your name in the segment ranking, you can see all the flights on which you have flown the segment. For example, Benjamin has flown the 'Engadin Rally' 29 times.
Comparing to a mate
You can also compare yourself to a mate, just filter for both pilots. You can then see who is leading on the particular segment. Again, the cup on Benjamins top score tells us that this was also the fastest flight of all times.
Club competition
You can also filter for clubs or airfields to see which club member was the most successfull. This is a great ways for clubs to set out small competitions to see who can fly their local segments the fastest in a season. For the 'Engadin Rally', Günther Siebinger has flown the segment the most often (local legend), but Dirk Küpper was the fastest of his club. The silver cup shows that Dirk's performance was also the second best overall.
Juniors and Womens
Other filter options are to filter for juniors or women.
Ordering
There are a lot of interesting ordering options for the segment ranking. You can order by points, speed, date, time and altitude. If you order by date, the flights are ordered by days, but also by points. So you will find the fastest flights for each date before the other flights of this date.
Lowest & Highest
Furthermore, there is the options two order by lowest and highest. If you order by lowest, the ranking is ordered starting with the lowest maximum altitude, if you order by highest, the ranking is ordered starting with the highest minimum altitude.
Earliest & Latest
If you order by earliest, the ranking is ordered starting with the earliest finish time, if you order by latest, the ranking is ordered starting with the latest start time.
