Airport Arrival Altitude
The "Airport Arrival Altitude" feature marks by gliding reachable airports for a given flight time stamp by color.
Moving the aircraft updates the reachable airports to reflect the current situation of the pilot.
For clarity, only the most important airports are shown. Zooming in on the map shows additional airports which are colored as well.
Green marked airports
Are reachable with a good safety margin of at least 200 meters / 650 feet.
Yellow marked airports
Are reachable with a thin safety margin of at least 100 meters / 330 feet.
Not marked airports
Are only reachable with additional altitude or distance gain.
Calculation and limits
The aircraft index is used for glider performance. The estimated performance is shown below the "Landing Opportunities" select box. The height of the airfield as well as the current altitude of the glider is used.
Intermediate geographical obstacles such as mountains are currently ignored in the calculations.
